March 27, 2016
First let me say I rejoice with you as you celebrate the resurrection of our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ.
For those of you, who are not aware of what has been happening since January, read on. And those who know this may include more detail.
It has been a long hall since the last update I went for my surgery at the Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton on January 26 and that was the start of an adventure I did not expect. It was supposed to be 1 – 1 ½ hour surgery which turned out to be a 3 hour surgery with complications. The doctor told Don after that he was amazed I was even walking as I had no pelvic or hip bone holding things together. I was in Hamilton for 10 days and that was really stressful then I was transferred to Brantford Hospital on February 4th. I was on the 8th floor then I was transferred to Rehab on the 2nd floor on February 12th until I was finally released March 11th. A total of 46 days altogether and Don was there every day accept when he went to minister at the prison every other week.
Thank you Jesus, for Don’s patience and perseverance. Bless him abundantly Lord.
I had opportunity to pray, share the Lord and minister while in the hospital, it helped keep my mind off the pain I was going through.
The last hip replacement I had in 2001, I was told was good for 5 – 10 years but I pushed it to 15 ½ and the ball had worn through the cup and lining and ground away the pelvic & hip bone. The doctors had to build bone out of synthetic material. I lost blood, had a (M.I.) heart attack and stopped breathing. I had a DNR but I am still here. I was told that 1 in 10 people that go through what I went through die within 30 days. THE SPIRIT THAT RAISED CHRIST JESUS FROM THE DEAD RAISED ME! I guess what was ordained for me before the foundations of the earth has not been completed so I am here until my purpose is complete no matter what or who tries to stop it. As I have said many times I will be where He wants me, when He wants me there, to accomplish what He wants to accomplish for His glory then I am going home and not until then. Believe me when I say there are times I wish that was sooner because it has been a long hard life however if what I have or am going through will bring one person to or closer to the Lord than it is all worthwhile.
An occupational therapist came out to our place before I came home from the hospital to see how I could manage, but after once around she said you have to move. Between her and the hospital OT, and the social worker at the hospital they were able to get me the equipment I needed. The social worker at the hospital told us of an apartment that was only four years old and was a non-smoking building so we called it. We were told there was nothing available a two year waiting list but we qualified for a reduced rent apartment. Two weeks later she called us and we firmed up the apartment last Thursday. We are moving in on April 30.
Our new address as of MAY 1, 2016 will be:
#306 – 575 Park Rd. N, Brantford On. N3R 0A7.
Same phone number. 519 805-9714
By God’s grace we were able to break our lease with no penalty due to medical reasons. I am in a wheelchair/ scooter and walker. The doctor said it will take 6 months to a year to recover. BUT WHOSE REPORT AM I GOING TO BELIEVE? I SHALL BELIEVE THE REPORT OF THE LORD.
While in the hospital I asked Don to bring in my computer and portable scanner so I could do some ministry work between when the medication kicked in and wore off. The only thing I could not get in was my printer, go figure. With the help of the Lord and others I managed to arrange a graduation at the prison where 14 men, 7 from each the Minimum and Medium completed the Overcomers program on February 29. We have been in Beavercreek Medium for two years now and Beavercreek Minimum for one year as of this past February. We have had a total of 89 guys complete the Overcomers program and several are on their second or third time around because they love the program and the fellowship. We love all the guys. Some have been released and continue the program on the outside with some of our groups.
John and Pauline went in and did the music, and Don, Tom and Charlie did the graduation and presented the certificates to the inmates. The certificates were printed by Rachel the secretary at New City Church. GOD BLESS HER without her help we would not have had the certificates for the graduation. This is the first time that I was not at a graduation at the prison and it did my heart good to see that it could and would go on if I was not able to attend. I am so proud of the entire team. Thank you all.
I saw the surgeon on March 21 and asked if I could fly in June and he said yes so in faith when I got home I booked a mission trip to New Brunswick, we will be taking our mobility scooters as I cannot walk on my own yet. We will be going to Moncton to help a Community Chaplain with the Overcomers aftercare program and as usual whatever else the Lord wants and leads while we are down there.
